Advancing Knowledge in Mollicutes (Mycoplasmas)

It is my great pleasure and honor to invite you to the 19th Congress of the IOM, which will be held in Toulouse, France, July 15-20, 2012. This congress is organized by the International Organization for Mycoplasmology (IOM), with the support of the the Veterinary School of Toulouse (ENVT), the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA), and the “Institut National Polytechnique” (INP).
The 19th IOM congress will offer the latest information on bacteria belonging to the Class Mollicutes, also trivially known as Mycoplasmas. These micro-organisms are among the simplest and represent a large, peculiar group that colonizes a wide range of hosts and niches. Because of their simplicity, mycoplasmas offer a great model for deciphering basic microbial systems and were recently successfully used to create a cell totally derived from a synthetic genome. Besides providing fascinating bio-models, they include several species which are significant pathogens of man, animal and plant, causing important diseases which control remains largely unsatisfactory.

By gathering scientists from all over the world, this congress provides a unique platform to exchange and to learn from the various scientific fields dealing with these bacteria. It also offers a chance to discuss new knowledge and future challenges.

We welcome professionals, scientists and students to submit their abstracts, register, and help advancing the world of microbiology by enriching our understanding of mycoplasmas.

I look forward to welcoming you to this exciting Congress.

Important dates:
December 2011: Call for abstracts and application for travel awards
February 2012: Closing of abstract submission
March 2012: Opening of the registration and hotel booking
